Cross-country & Back-country skiing

If the first snow falls, transformed the footpaths around the resort Oberhof in white cross-country and back-country skiing trails. Inform yourself in the centers of the DSV Active Nordic center via the excellently planned route network and enjoy the magnificent highland scenery of the Thuringian Forest. It is ideal suitable for the Nordic sports.

The perfectly groomed cross-country trails draw the long run region Thuringian Forest - a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. The following trails are located directly in Oberhof:

The large round "R" - 50.3 km long
The Grow lawn (Wachsenrasen) - 16.3 km long
The Shepherds lawn (Hirtenrasen) - 10.9 km long
The trail to the Gustav Freytag Stone - 9.4 km long
The trail to Hunter Mountain (Schützenberg) - 7.7 km long

Beginners can get familiar with the cross-country ski on 3 learning trails. More trails you can find for example in Zella-Mehlis, Steinbach-Hallenberg, Gehlberg or Goldlauter-Heiderbach. Or you will blaze a trail with your back-country shoes through the untouched nature. Some marked trails are not groomed but still best to follow.

The appropriate equipment is available at the various rental stations in and around Oberhof (see above).

LOTTO Thuringia Skisport-HALL

The LOTTO Thuringia Skisport-HALL is the first and so far only cross-country skiing and biathlon hall in Germany. The all year round you can be engaged in cross-country skiing and biathlon. Different gradients and slopes of up to 12% make for fun and challenge of across 1,754 m long round course. The trails are divided into the following areas: North-East loop, Big West loop, the double trail as well as Speed power trail.

Even while in the summer the sun is baking outside, there is still cold in the hall, which has a special charm. Also the athletes train here for the competitions in winter.

In addition to cross-country skiing you can practice in biathlon shooting in the shooting gallery. In the process you shoot on original biathlon washers with an original biathlon weapon, of course in the snow. Various courses are offered for beginners and enthusiasts.
