Explore the history of Thuringia on the "Thuringian city chain".  The cycling far away leads you on safe trails and with a total distance of 240 km through cities rich in history. Among others you will pass through Gotha, Erfurt, Weimar and Jena.

As well trips along the rivers Werra, Saale or the Ilm are possible. It means: "Always by the water" , no matter in which direction you want to start.

In parallel to the Rennsteig hiking trail runs the Rennsteig cycle route with a distance of 170 km.

You are a passionate Action Fun and want to feel the adrenaline in your body? Then you will especially like Oberhof and the holiday region.

Numerous tours were especially for mountain bike fans aligned and created - no matter whether you are a beginner or pro. You can discover the following trails either alone or in a small group with a guide:

  • Tour to the mountain Spitzigen Berg (22 km)
  • The sports facilities in Oberhof and the peak Schneekopf (31 km)
  • Tour to high must “Zur Hohen Möst” (24.5 km)
  • Along the dams at Oberhof (39, 5 km)

Other routes are located in the holiday region: the Rennsteig Cycle trail, the Röhn-Rennsteig Cycle trail, the single trais at the Wild Gera to Dolmar - the mountain of the Celts and the Haseltal cycle trail that runs from the Rennsteig to the Werra valley. In Zella-Mehlis also are two routes available (mountain Regenberg lap and Zella-Mehlis lap). In Steinbach-Hallenberg invites the round trip on an action-packed ride through the Haseltal and in Goldlauter-Heidersbach a tour of Goldlauter to the most beautiful peaks.

Bike Park in Oberhof 

With three trails of different levels of difficulty invites the Oberhof bike park to a sporting day trip.  There are the T-Wood trail, the Fallbach trail and the Blueberry trail. Bicycles can not directly rent in the bike park, however, there are rental stations in and around Oberhof, for example in the DKB Ski Sport Hall or in Sport Luck Shop.

The legendary Rennsteig is also considered to be a perfect place for sports fans. Along the comb of the Thuringian Forest is offered a very challenging elevation profile at approximately 170 km. If you are to go even faster, try our downhill sections.

Electric Bike

A little more relaxed is a tour with the electric bike. Different rental stations offer now the modern E-bikes, for example Sport Luck Shop at the Ski Hall. Therefore you master even the steepest mountain routes, without any major effort.
