Alpine Ski
Of course, alpine skiing is possible in the Oberhof holiday region. Several lifts make for varied slopes. No matter whether you are a beginner or pro, there is something for everyone.
Especially popular is the Fallbachhang. This 800 m long ski slope in the direction Grenzadler is partially covered with artificial snow. If snow is sparse, it will be supplemented with artificial snow on the slope and skiers can enjoy evening runs too thanks to floodlighting. Moreover, this slope has a ski lift, which takes you quickly to the top.
So that you can easily switch between your accommodation and ski area, oscillation in the winter months a city line between Oberhof and the border Adler offers.To be able to commute comfortably between your accommodation and the ski lifts in the winter months is offered a city line between Oberhof and the Grenzadler.
Also the " Alte Golfwiese " is considered to be a popular Ski area, which also has a ski lift. Other ski areas with lift is located in:
- Steinbach-Hallenberg (ski lift at the Kniebreche); several winter sports options such as Tobogganing & cross country skiing
- Gehlberg (ski lift "Am Ritter"); the opportunity to night skiing
- Goldlauter-Heidersbach (ski lift Goldlauter on Salzberg); longest lift and steepest downhill of Thuringia
Your ski equipment you must not bring, of course it can be rented at many rental stations. Among others directly at the Alte Golfwiese, in Walldorf, at the Fallbach lift or in the Ski hall.
Snowboarding
All of the above mentioned regions are also ideal for snowboarding. Especially popular is however the Oberhof Snowboard Fun Park directly by the Fallbachhang top station. In their own initiative young snowboarders built this park in the heart of Thuringia.
Groomed ski jumping hills of different levels bring thrills and adrenaline. Snowboard schools with qualified experts help especially beginners to set (with) a safe start on the slopes.
Families with children or beginners are at the Alte Golfwiese in good hands. Here you can get familiar with the snowboard familiar without problems.
On the abovementioned rental stations are also snowboards available.
